A greater emphasis is placed on characterization, creating and sustaining an emotion, as well as in-depth script analysis and scene improvisation. Sense memory and repetition exercises are introduced, as well as audition techniques and the business of acting. Using a variety of exercises and techniques the student learns how to act truthfully and honestly. Scene study is added and a scene is taken from a cold reading all the way to a polished performance. The student then has the necessary skills to move on to the advanced one year program.
